Fort Worth Star-Telegram - 5/16/2017

May 16--DALLAS -- An Army veteran shot at an Uber car more than 10 times early Tuesday with at least one bullet striking the driver, Dallas police say.

Officers arrived about 1 a.m. at an apartment complex in the 100 block of North Brookside Drive. Police told WFAA-TV that the Uber driver was giving someone a ride home when they began talking about guns. Once at the apartments, the passenger took out his gun to show the driver.

The suspect witnessed the two with the gun and thought something suspicious was going on, police told CBS-11. He then took out his own gun and began firing at the car and struck the driver. The suspect performed emergency first aid on the driver until officials arrived, WFAA-TV reported.

The driver was taken to Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. His condition was not available.

The suspect is believed to be an Army veteran possibly suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, police said. He was taken into police custody for questioning but police have not released what charges he may face, according to WFAA-TV.
