Keeping the troops fit: CNU Fit partners with Dover AFB

Delaware State News - 11/27/2017

DOVER - Local personal training studio CNU Fit was recently awarded a Group Fitness Contract for Dover Air Force Base.

According to their vision statement, CNU Fit empowers individuals to "be the best versions of themselves" through personalized fitness coaching. They offer a wide range of programs, including but not limited to: metabolic coaching, which teaches individuals how to speed their metabolism through nutrition; personal training, which helps build strength and boost energy; and stretching sessions.

Though CNU Fit does have group classes at their studio location, such as FitRanx - a class that focuses on leveling up the FitRanx ranking system, which is a standardized system used to gauge individuals' fitness levels - the contract has allowed them to expand onto the base to offer more classes that can reach more individuals.

Every year Dover AFB puts out a contract for aerobic instruction, the purpose of which is to provide the military, veterans, and their families with free fitness classes that also provide them with accountability to stay motivated. For the past few years this contract has been managed by businesses stationed throughout the country. This is the first time in years that the contract will be completed by a local business.

CNU Fit CEO Evans Armantrading, who spent his Air Force career at Dover AFB, is excited to work on base.

"I'm a veteran, so being a veteran and a local business, I've always wanted to give back to the military with the skills set that I have. Being able to provide back to the base is an honor for me," Mr. Armantrading said.

CNU Fit now provides 19 fitness classes a week on base, and was able to hire eight additional staff members to manage the classes. Some of the classes they offer include, yoga, pilates, FitRanx, and core intensive classes. So far, CNU Fit is getting great reviews, according Armantrading, and CNU Fit's ultimate goal is to renew the contract at the end of the one year.
