Coronavirus: Cape Fear Valley Health asks for donations, has access to fabric for sewers

Mar. 23--FAYETTEVILLE -- Bladen County residents and those served in the Cape Fear Valley Health Systems area are being asked to consider donations of needed supplies.

Cape Fear Valley Health is the parent company of Bladen County Hospital.

A release says that because tattoo parlors, nail salons, dentists, optometrists, audiologists, car painting and detailing businesses, house painters and construction companies often use masks and gloves in their work, they may consider making donations to the health-care providers.

The following are needed: N-95 masks, surgical masks, surgical masks with shields, ear loop masks, nasal swabs for medical use, disinfectant, eye protection to include safety goggles or glasses, face shields, gloves with disposable and Nitril or non-latex preferred, disposable gowns, disposable shoe covers, hand sanitizer greater than 60 percent alcohol, liquid hand soap and ventilators of medical grade.

The release said Cape Fear Valley welcomes home sewers to pick up fabric and instructions to make cloth masks. JoAnn Fabrics, at 1800 Skibo Road in Cross Creek Plaza in Fayetteville, is donating supplies.

To schedule donation drop-offs, call 910-615-1285. The drop-off point is Cape Fear Valley Health Foundation in the Medical Arts Building at 101 Robeson St. in Fayetteville.
